Our Beliefs

Statement of Belief and Ministry Philosophy

I'm Ian, the magician behind True Vine Kids Magic. I believe that every good gift, talent, and creative skill ultimately comes from God and can be used for His glory.

As a Christian magician and children’s entertainer in Singapore, I use magic, storytelling, humour, and audience participation as tools to engage children and families meaningfully - during church events, evangelistic outreaches, Sunday school or Children’s program.

My desire is not merely to entertain, but to communicate truth clearly, joyfully, and responsibly in ways that are memorable for children and accessible for families.

Christian Gospel Magic Performances

My gospel magic performances and illusion shows are designed specifically to support:

Church Family Days
Church Anniversary Celebrations
Evangelistic Outreach Events
Children's Ministry Programs
Vacation Bible School (VBS)
Sunday School Events
Christmas and Easter Outreach Programs
Community Engagement Events
Community Engagement Events
Family Carnival and Appreciation Events
Magic and illusion are simply communication tools used to capture attention and create memorable learning moments for children. In the same way churches may use drama, music, puppetry, games, or visual storytelling, illusion is used here as a creative form of engagement.

For clarity, there is no witchcraft, occultism, divination, supernatural power, or spiritual manipulation involved in my performances.

All performances are based on natural performance techniques such as sleight of hand, psychology, timing, props, storytelling, and theatrical presentation for entertainment and educational purposes only.
My Christian Faith and Church Background

My Christian Faith and Church Background

I attend Bethesda Cathedral, a non-denominational Christian church in Singapore.

Within the church, I serve in both the Worship Team and the Children’s Ministry as a teacher. My involvement in children’s ministry reflects my conviction that children deserve teaching that is both engaging and theologically faithful.

As someone regularly serving in church ministry, I understand the importance of theological safety, doctrinal clarity, and age-appropriate communication when partnering with churches, Christian organisations, and ministries.

Core Christian Beliefs

I affirm the historic Christian faith as expressed in the Apostles’ Creed and the Nicene Creed.

Among other things, I affirm:

The Trinity — one God eternally existing as Father, Son, and Holy Spirit
The full deity and full humanity of Jesus Christ
The Virgin birth of Christ
The bodily death and resurrection of Jesus Christ
The Total Depravity of Man and inability to attain divine righteousness after the Fall
Salvation by grace through faith in Christ alone
The inerrancy and infallibility of Holy Scripture
The future return of Christ to judge the living and the dead
The bodily resurrection of believers, eternal life for believers, and eternal punishment for non-believers
The existence of one holy catholic (universal) Church made up of believers across faithful local congregations
I believe that Jesus Christ is the only way to salvation, and that the Bible is the final authority in matters of faith and practice.
Theological Position and Ministry Approach

Theological Position and Ministry Approach

I seek to remain charitable regarding second-order and third-order theological issues among orthodox Christians.

Personally, I am a Protestant, Evangelical, non-denominational Christian with Pentecostal leanings. I maintain an ecumenical posture toward fellow believers who affirm historic Christian orthodoxy and the core doctrines of the faith.

I believe churches from different denominational backgrounds can still partner meaningfully in gospel-centred ministry while maintaining theological integrity.

What I Reject

For clarity, I do not affirm:

The Prosperity Gospel
Witchcraft, occultism, divination, or supernatural claims associated with magic performances
The doctrine of Papal Infallibility
Marian dogmas
At the same time, I recognise the importance of the historical Church in preserving and articulating core Christian doctrine throughout history.
A Commitment to Safe and Faithful Ministry

A Commitment to Safe and Faithful Ministry

I understand that churches, pastors, ministry leaders, and parents place significant trust in those who minister to children.

As such, I seek to ensure that my Christian magic shows, gospel illusion performances, and children’s programs remain:

  • Theologically responsible
  • Christ-honouring
  • Family-friendly
  • Age-appropriate
  • Gospel-conscious
  • Safe for church environments

Whether serving at a church family day, evangelistic outreach, children's camp, Christian school event, or community engagement program in Singapore, my goal is to use creativity and entertainment as tools to serve the local church faithfully and responsibly.

If you have any questions regarding theology, ministry philosophy, or performance content, I would be happy to have a conversation.
