Singapore Magician Ian talks about his hopes for 2021

2020 has without a doubt been a very eventful year. Now that 2021 has started, I am sure many of you are looking forward and hoping with all your heart to the good things that are to come - and wishing it will be a lot better than last year. Singapore Magician Ian definitely feels this way! In this blog post, I interview Ian on his goals and thoughts on the new year of 2021.

How has 2020 been for you?

2020 has been a roller coaster for me! I started True Vine Kids Magic last year with lots of expectations for what it will become. But COVID-19 came in January and things haven't been the most smooth-sailing since then. Nevertheless, suffering produces endurance, and endurance produces character, and character produces hope! So i'm glad about how things turn out in the end, because of all the learning involved in the process.

If you could change one thing - wish you did or didn’t do in 2020 - what would it be?

I wish i would have adapted to the COVID-19 pandemic earlier and pivoted quickly! Given the COVID-19 pandemic, I could've devised more home-based entertainment options and capitalised on the circuit breaker to grow our online presence! That is something that I didn't do quick enough to get the first mover's advantage. Nevertheless, it will be something that we will be working on at this point.

What are your plans for 2021? Any New Year’s resolutions?

The plans for 2021 are simple! Firstly, get 1000 followers on our Instagram! And of course, continue to learn what Service, Humility, Integrity and Respect in our daily work, as we try to create a positive impact on both our clients and our partners. I would want to grow our team as well, to bring in people who share the same values as myself and grow in the Fruits of the Spirit.

What are your goals for True Vine Kids Magic?

We want to be the premier entertainment agency to inspire a childlike faith in others! We want to bring modern and personalised entertainment that every family deserves - through magic - to elicit that sense of wonder about the world that we all felt as a child :)

In obedience to the Cultural Mandate, I want to use my gift to create and bring joy to others through my magic shows.

What do you think is most important for True Vine Kids Magic and for yourself?

Definitely values! Oftentimes, like in 2020, the negativity in the environment and challenges faced in my career can discourage me. As such, I lose sight of why I even work in the first place, which is to serve and produce value for others. Regardless, it is most important to not lose sight of our core values and to embody the Fruits of the Holy Spirit in our work!

What is the most important goal for True Vine Kids Magic in 2020?

To position True Vine Kids Magic as an entertainment agency that embodies Service, Humility, Integrity and Respect! Of course, I want to grow our social media presence to reach more people and bring in more revenue hahaha (laughing emoji) We must grow to 2000 followers and bring more joy to others through our magic!

There you have it! Ian is a very determined and enthusiastic individual who is clearly passionate about bringing happiness and joy to everyone around him. And to do that through magic shows in Singapore, as well as organising kids parties is definitely a unique and exciting way to do it.
